Ask for the answer
in plain words.

## Whose price are you looking at?

As of September 2026, an approved weight medicine can have different list, cash, discount-card, insured and government-program prices.

List price is the drug company’s published price to sellers, before discounts. A cash price is paid without using insurance. A copay is your share of the medicine bill.

Ask what type of price you are being shown. Compare the same medicine and amount, using the same way of paying, such as cash or insurance.

Ask in your own words

Is this a medicine-only cash price, an insured payment, or a total care charge?

## What cash prices can look like

As of September 2026, prices checked through drug manufacturers’ own pharmacy services mostly range from $149–$499 per month for branded weight and diabetes medicines. These are cash prices: you pay for the medicine yourself, without using insurance.

The exact product affects the price. That range includes offers with conditions; some late refills cost more.

The drug companies do not all define a month as the same quantity of medicine.

These are medicine-price examples from a dated check, not a quote for a visit or a full care plan. Ask the pharmacy service named in the offer how to fill and pay for the prescription. Request a total for the offer in front of you.

## What sits beside the medicine charge?

In a small sample of online weight-care offers checked in September 2026, services usually charged a membership fee separately from the medicine.

Ask whether the visit, follow-up messages, tests and shipping are included. Ask which charge continues when a prescription changes or stops.

Check whether a price covers just the medicine or also includes visits and other care. Write down each charge before comparing totals.

Ask in your own words

Can you set out every charge and explain which ones repeat?

## What changes after an offer?

As checked in September 2026, several drug-company cash offers and savings cards state an end date of December 31, 2026.

Recheck the offer at that date; the price after it remains unknown.

Ask what you pay after any opening offer and how long you must keep paying. Ask how to cancel and when you can get a refund. Keep the written answer.

Ask what you still owe if the clinician decides not to prescribe. A care fee and a medicine fee are separate questions.

Ask in your own words

What will I pay later, and how long am I agreeing to keep paying?

### [Medicare: read about temporary help with weight-medicine costs](https://www.medicare.gov/coverage/weight-loss-drugs)

This explains Medicare’s temporary program for certain weight medicines. You must qualify for the program; its medicine payment is not the total cost of your care.

### [FDA: check claims about cheaper copies](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/human-drug-compounding/fda-telehealth-companies-what-know-when-promoting-compounded-drugs)

Check both the price and what medicine you are being offered. FDA explains why calling medicines made to order the same as approved products can mislead.
